A few years ago, my iPhone kept disappearing at home. I couldn't figure out what was going on. My son kept taking my phone and obsessively playing some kind of game on it. That was when I first discovered the phenomenon that is Angry Birds. I quickly realized that Angry Birds is everywhere – on smart phones, tablets, and computers. As a mom, it took me a while to “get it”. This isn't a traditional video game. You don't need to go to a bricks and mortar store to purchase it in a box. (Silly me... how passé...) This is an app, which can be downloading in seconds on zillions of hand held devices around the world. No wonder it spread like wild fire. Kids like my son just can't get enough of it.
So, what is exactly is the game about? Basically, the player controls a bunch a birds. The birds try to retrieve eggs back from some pigs who have taken them. The birds need to smash the pigs to get back the eggs. There are different kinds of birds, which have different abilities – some are very fast, some have explosives, etc.
My own children are tweens in the ten to twelve years old range. We try to keep an eye on what they are playing on their computers, tablets, etc. and what they are watching on television. I am not a fan of many of the very violent video games out there. Angry Birds is rated E by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, which makes us feel confident that it is fun without being overly violent.
We carry a selection of Angry Birds pajamas for boys as well as Angry Birds boxer shorts for men. The boys pajamas are loose fitting and comfortable. We currently have shorty pajamas for the spring and summer. Fall styles should be here in a few months.
